David stays at Soniat House, a beautifully restored mansion house in the heart of the French Quarter then strolls over to Royal Street, where artists like Terrence Sanders have open studio-galleries. David visits the Arthur Roger gallery and see how contemporary art in New Orleans has become world class as local artists process the deep effects of hurricane Katrina. David then checks out the Steve Martin gallery and after being shown around the exhibit of photographs of jazz legends on show, he is treated to a quick lesson in second step - the famous New Orleans funeral dance step. At the Ogden Museum, which holds the largest collection of Southern art in the country, David gets to see the newly unveiled works of self-taught artist Clementine Hunter, whose simple paintings documented every day life on a plantation.

David stays at the Hotel Bel Ami in the heart of St. Germain, a modern hotel in the building that was one of the city's earliest printing houses. He then visits Sennelier, the fourth generation-run paint store on the banks of the Seine that sold paint to all of the great French masters. David tours the old jewish quarter, La Marais, now the most exciting gallery district in Paris, and pops into Galerie Anne De Villepoix, and Le Vert Absinthe - an authentic absinthe shop. Later, David visits Musee D'Orsay and the studio of Fabian Verschaere, who treats him to a watercolor tutorial.
